Holidays with your dog

Enjoy the most beautiful holidays in the mountains together with your four-legged friend.

For the whole family

Because the best holiday moments are the ones you share.

A holiday is only complete when the whole family is there – and of course that includes your dog.

At the Glücksschmiede, your four-legged companion is not just allowed, but warmly welcome. Right on our doorstep, idyllic walking paths, wonderful hikes and countless nature experiences are waiting to be discovered together. In the hotel, thoughtful extras make sure your dog feels completely at home from the very first moment.

Arrive. Breathe. Enjoy the mountains together.

Well looked after

Everything for your four-legged friend.

So you can start your holiday relaxed, a small starter kit will already be waiting in your room when you arrive.
What awaits your dog:

  • Dog bed
  • Food bowl
  • Poop bags
  • Dog guide with tips for your stay
  • “Dog in room” door sign

That makes your holiday together easy right from the start – without packing lots of extras.

Together, not apart

Your dog is warmly welcome here.

Time together is what matters most to us. That’s why your dog is welcome to join you in many areas of our hotel.

Where your dog can come along

Dog-friendly

Your dog is very welcome in your room, in the lobby, at the bar, in the Fuhrmannstube restaurant, on the terrace and in the HornOX restaurant.

These areas stay dog-free

Dog-free areas

Out of consideration for all guests, dogs are unfortunately not allowed in the breakfast restaurant or in the wellness and spa area. Thank you for your understanding.

Breakfast together

Tip

If you would like to have breakfast together with your dog, we are happy to serve your breakfast in the lobby. Just ask our team – we’ll take care of it.

Around the Glücksschmiede

Out and about together.

The best experiences start right outside our hotel door. Whether a relaxed walk along the Saalach river or a long hike with panoramic views – around the Glücksschmiede, plenty of trails are waiting to be discovered together.

Walk

Short morning walk

20–30 minutes

From the hotel, head straight towards the start of the valley (roundabout). At Hotel Theresia, cross the road and walk back along the other side of the stream, past the Montelino family park, to the hotel. Completely flat with lots of shade – on hot days the stream offers dogs a chance to cool off and run free.

Walk

Short evening walk

20–30 minutes

Turn left out of the hotel towards the end of the valley. At about the Zwölferkogel bus stop, cross the road and follow the hiking trail along the Saalach river. Flat, easy-going & you are sure to meet plenty of other dog lovers.

Walk

To the Gerstreit reservoir

45 minutes

From the hotel towards the Westgipfelbahn; from the valley station, a forest road leads through the woods to the reservoir. A little steeper, mostly through the forest, with swimming spots at the lake (summer only).

Hike

End-of-valley loop

approx. 2.5 hours

From the hotel to the end of the valley. The easy route leads from the hotel along the Saalach river towards the end of the valley. The path follows a very comfortable trail through the forest with little incline and lots of opportunities to let your dog really run. You can hike all the way to the end of the valley, return via the Saalalm and Ossmannalm to the Lindlingalm, and from there take the little tourist train back.

Tip: You are sure to find plenty of playmates on this very popular path. For a shorter version, drive to the end of the valley and start at the train turning point (1.5-hour loop).

Hike

Panorama loop on the Zwölferkogel

1.5 hours

Take the Zwölferkogelbahn up and hike leisurely along the panorama trails towards the middle station or all the way down. Stunning views (World Championship course), lots of huts to stop at – a dog ticket is required.

Hike

Reiterkogel

1 hour

Take the gondola up to the Reiterkogel middle station, then on the left-hand side an easy hike to the Rosswaldhütte. A very family-friendly trail with play areas and puzzles to solve. Wide forest road passing the reservoir – if you like, you can hike all the way down.

Relaxing together

Good to know.

So that all guests – on two legs and four – feel at home with us, we kindly ask for a little mutual consideration and have put together a few tips for you.

It works best together.

  • Please keep your dog on a lead in the hotel and within the village of Saalbach Hinterglemm.
  • Dogs are not allowed on sofas, armchairs or beds.
  • Please always pick up after your dog – you’ll find poop bags in your room.
  • On mountain pastures, please keep a safe distance from cows and other grazing animals.

Cleaning and housekeeping

So that our housekeeping team can clean your room without stress, please hang the dog sign on the outside of your door whenever your dog stays in the room alone.

That way our team knows and can clean your room as soon as your four-legged friend is out with you again. This keeps things relaxed – for your dog and for our staff.

If something should happen …

Where there’s playing, romping and holidaying together, a little mishap can happen.

If there is any damage or unusual soiling, please just let us know. Together we will find a simple and fair solution.

Please understand that extraordinary cleaning or any damage caused may have to be charged.
